Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone! I hope this is the year that we all make our dreams come true!Let's all try and make a difference in at least one person's life this year. Keep your eyes toward the skies for our Lord's return it could happen in twenty ten! We all need to do more for our Lord this year folks so again Happy New Year!

The eleventh commandment

John 15:12
12:

This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Jesus said this. I think it's where we fail him most today. Oh sure we tell people we love them, but do we mean it? Really mean it? If they hurt do we hurt with them? If they are sick do we really get down on our hands and knees and really call out to God on their behalf. Do we really concern ourselves with our brothers and sisters in Christ? I think not, not really. We have to care about one another this is JESUS commandmnet to us. I truly beleive that love for others could cause a massive revival. I beleive it is the only things we as individuals can do to fight the terrible state the enemy has got this world into. Real love could bring people back to the fold!

Please Be advised

I have recently been made aware that my Scripture Blog sounds like this new fangled prosperity preaching that is going around. Please note in my profile that I am of the old school. Those of us in this area of the country actually call it old path but that is neither here nor there. So please be aware this is not what I intended for the Blog. I simply mean it to be an encouraging and uplifting daily blessing. Not preaching or real teaching. I have noticed on some of the topix forums people adding bible verses of their own and often times these verses are from other translations of the Bible other than the King James Version. Please be aware the only version I use in the blog is the King James Version and that is all I will use. I don't wish to get into a debate about that. For me it's the way I beleive. I hope all of you have a very Happy New Year!

The Old Violin

I heard John Osteen recite this shortly after I got saved at 15 and wanted to share it with you all.
The old Violin

Twas battered and scarred and the auctioneer thought it scarcely wortth his while

To auction off the old violin, but he held it up with a smile

What's my bidding for the old violin? Who'll start the bidding for me?

One dollar two or three?

But no from the room far back a grey haired man came forward

And he picked it up with the bow.

And dusting off the old violin and tightening up the strings

He played a melody as smooth and as sweet as an angel would sing

The music ceased and the auctioneer said with a voice that was quiet and low

What is my bidding for the old violin as he held it up with the bow?

One thousand, two thousand no three

Going and gone cried he!

The crowd cheered, but some of them cried

We don't quite understand

What changed its worth?

Quick came the reply

The touch of the master's hand

And many a man with life out tune and torn and battered by sin

Is auctioned off to that thoughtless crowd much like that old violin

A mess of pottage, a glass of wine a game and he travels on'

He is going once, he's going twice, he's going and he's almost gone

Then the master comes Then the master comes Then Jesus arrives on the scene

And the thoughtless crowd never can quite understand the worth of a soul

And the change that's wrought by the touch of the Master's hand!

How much God Loves You!

John 3:16

16:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whososever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

While I have read this verse many, many times I had never really noticed that Jesus said this! You know often in this life we feel unloved (or at least I do) but it is so good to know I have a heavenly father that loves me even when I am unloveable. He loves me so much he sacrificed his only son just for me (and just for you). I think we often forget the magnitude of that sacrifice. I like to watch a show called Word Pictures and once they told a story about a man whose job it was to control a railroad bridge and once he took his son to work with him and his son was playing on the tracks as the train approached... Now this man loved his son dearly of course but there were 400 people on the train. All the father had to do was throw the switch and all those people would die and his son would be saved, but if he didn't his son would die. The man sacrificed his son for the all the lives on the train and as the train passed he saw that the people on the train just went on about their business and acted like nothing had happened. This crushed the father that they didn't appreciate the huge sacrifice that he had sacrificed his own son for them. I imagine that's how God feels when we ignore his precious sacrifice for us.

Our reasonable service

Romans 12:1

1:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

You know it really is just our reasonable service that we would present our bodies to God as a living sacrifice. I mean after all he has done for us and as great a gift as eternal life is it's really the least we could do as to show appreciation for the goodness of God by living a holy life.

Praise the Lord

Psalms 106:1

1:

Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.

Thank you God! Praise your name that your mercy endureth forever surely we are a wicked people and in daily need of your mercy and Grace. What a comfort to know it endures forever!
